Regrets...I've had a few

First things fucking last, I shot this photo of my boy Vince Discala at the new Black Diamond Skatepark in Philadelphia,(not the actual fun one at the old Vans Skatepark in NJ) otherwise known as The Iceline Club, aka X-Gaymes, aka Hoodcurd
I have a hotel and everything set up. So we can ride bikes, film burn a few during the day, not go to a bar to pull ladies smelling like Geno's Steaks. This is either going to be a great two week trip, or Adam Schnellenbach meets Hunter S. Thompson in a substance abuse contest. But I expect results both in print, photos, and hopefully a video edit by the end of the two weeks documenting everyones favorite city to hang and ride here in the States, Austin Texas will either swallow me whole and spit me back up to the Keystone State.

Or I get alot of bike riding done, pull some chicks, and eat at Chuy's everyday. Any of you dudes or anyone reading this who will be in the Austin area, or Arizona hell we're pretty close. I've love to get to AZ when its not summer like the last time I was in the desert, it was 112 degrees in Navaz's old right hand video man, Local Shredder of Standpoint/Jersey Riding Video Zine shit his pants whist we were searching for a fullpipe on the Salt River we had heard Joe Rich speaking of at an old ECT/FBM/Hell On Earth contest in Bigglestown Ny after the Etnies Forward premiere where our whole crew aside from Navazio, Tom White, and myself were the only ones out of 12 of us not to get arrested but got to ride the shit pool before realizing it wasn't worth the bust, took two runs each and peaced out. While everyone else got proper fucked as we saw the police arriving from the top of a hill overlooking Johnson City's finest Holiday Inn.

We then retreated to a near by Denny's and I ordered Homefries as not to draw attention as we had ditched the bikes in some bushes so not to get pulled over with 3 bikes on the rack and looking sketchy. Funny thing was Nate Hanson was in there eating alone, and Dave Fremiuth almost got arrested for riding the pool we rode as he walked his bike back into the hotel after the contest. I fell asleep watching ECD 2: Uncharted Territory while everyone else was in jail at the old FBM house. What does this pointless tale from the road teach anyone who just read it? That you are as bored as I happen to be. Expect more, "Tales From The Chevy Blazer Hood."

Stoked on this photo I took of Vinny D.

He lit his cigarette under his coat to hide the gusts of wind off of the Deleware from extinguishing the flame. Shaking and taking the first puff looking out onto the dead souls on the Camden side of the river, thinking to ones self can lead to thoughts of despair and triumph. Fuck that though this was business and for 29 year old, “James Reynolds” just another day spent scheming and doing his best to avoid the daily grind of the modern world which surrounded him. Under the heavy menthol smoke and the occasional tow boat James felt his cellphone vibrate and read the following message. “J.R, 10 MIN, SAME SPOT.” Last drop of the day and James was getting restless, throwing his phone into the brown rough water now churning like a massive catfish was splashing his way out of a crafty fisherman’s net some fifteen miles down the river.

“Ten minutes will be more or less like thirty, fuck.” Thought James. “Grab the bag, drop off the goods at “Ripping Ron’s Autobody Shop”, for Ron to start breaking up the package and getting it ready for shipment throughout the Counties and City from which James resided and in his opinion ran.grab a new cellular telephone, then head back to Ron’s around Midnight to pick up the finished load. Normally James wouldn’t be in this position of danger, but it became something more or less to do out of necessity for curing his current state of boredom. This wasn’t a daily gig down at the Burger King that you get fired from for putting an extra tomato on a Whopper because your manager is a dickhead. Out here James was more than a manager, or a store owner, he was the one in charge of putting out the new franchises, James was king. “Heroin sells itself.” He had always thought and as long as he kept away from the stuff he was good.

James knew Ron was a junkie, but a very trustworthy one. The old saying of never trusting a junkie was part of the rules. Never in his life did James follow the rules. J ames knew that if Ron tried out a bad batch of the stuff than Ron would be the first to let him know if the shipment was rubbish. If Ron wasn’t stoned, or dead then James knew he had been cheated. Most of the time there was never a problem but James knew the risk involved with dealing with outsiders. This shipment was coming down from the Elizabethtown Docks of North Jersey, being driven by his inside Union worker he only knew as “Leo” down on a twenty two footer.

Twenty Two feet seemed to draw too much attention to James for his liking but what was he to do? There was no way he was driving up to North Jersey to pick up the shit himself. Behind him James heard the sloppy break squeal from the near parking lot and fixed his attention from across the river to the near by parking lot. Where in sat his truck, uncomfortable with the silence of the driver not using the proper signal as was discussed. James began to walk towards the truck, not too fast and not too slow James hid among the walking skeletons, tourists, low lives, and whores posing as housewives. Approaching the truck from the side he had seen a patrol car with its light blazing in the distance. The car just kept on driving by, as James hopped into the passenger seat hoping everything was ok. Leo was shaking, “They know man.” He sighed. “Who the fuck knows what?” calmly stated James. It turns out the reason for Leo’s tardiness wasn’t some traffic jam, it wasn’t his Union boss who James had on payroll, it was "The New Jersey State Police", fucking swine Coughed Leo. James knew Leo wouldn’t have been released from U.S custody this quick even if he had struck a deal. Leo had his hand into James’ product and the telltale signs of this were not well hidden. Leo was sloppy, “This White Dragon is unreal.” Leo boasted. James knew he had to go, “Just follow me to the drop off point, and don’t you fucking fall asleep on me!” Shouted James losing his patience with this fucker who had no idea that these last ten minutes would be his last.

Drive him to Ron’s, do a count, and kill this son of a bitch. Killings for James became not a big deal, like taking the trash out on Thursday. He knew that murder was bad for business and that Leo had been stupid enough to had tell his co-workers where he was heading in the truck. “We’ll get him into the back of the vehicle, smash his fucking brains in with a four sided wrench, then have Ron’s little brother, “Joey The Frog” drive the truck and Leo’s corpse down to 64th street where Joey could get rid of any evidence of the day.” But there was no chance to rid the world of Leo. “Get the fuck on the ground!” Was all James heard. Leo had been working with the D.E.A for six months. The dream was dead. Knowing that Leo had known almost everything that went on within his criminal organization James knew he and his partners were proper fucked. But this seemingly typical ending is actually the beginning of a rising star of the drug trade who rose too soon, and too recklessly towards the “American Dream.”

The rainy storm door rusted shut memories of dreams lost. How many footsteps of strangers have ventured down this road? A thousand or maybe even a million but who is counting, All that matters is the dreams left behind of dead autumn skies and worthless words that once meant the world to deaf ears. The concrete stairs send a draft up my loosened pant leg. The vicodin does little to easy this mental anguish aside from constant confusion. Head in lap, using my broken pencil point to jab little holes into the hands you once loved more than our trips to the ocean. The way the waves seemed to call your name, dead beaches, storm battered dunes, and now the emptiness where my humanity once again lays dormant.
All I ever wanted was your hand in mine never for us to fall so hard toward our self destruction through our love and veins. With each taste of the bottle, with ever pill we are venturing further from the life we once loved. Who knew addiction came in the form of a broken heart? Or even the struggle to keep all you ever wanted from falling into harms way. This is your life, this is our time. Remember the way the skyline spelt your name, or the wind called your name as it blew your hair. The skeletal plans of our happiness are not fallen dreams but our last chance to make amends to ourselves and our own wasted self pity now drifting through this alley and into oblivion. No pity for our actions, no remorse for failure, our lives were beautiful, now soaked with decay.
These visions are blinding, the sun vanquishes this night. The street lights glow and flicker, the moon is now full. The streets reek of exhaust, and my burning for you. Im Bringing Back At The End Of The Road/The Delco Blog

Start you out since its snowing with some short stories and other writing pieces I had lying on my computer. Hope you enjoy.

Three years down the road, what’s there to show for the misery of adulthood? Maybe nothing, maybe that god like new soda fountain they installed at your place of business. Quickly installed by your local Pepsi representative. But you can only buy Diet since the gluttons down in reception made a few salty complaints. Proof that they were nothing better than extra skin and a few brain cells. A diet soda will not cancel out your Bacon Cheese Fries with Onion Ring BBQ Pizza. I don’t see the old Pepsi delivery man these days as often or even at all. But I seem to be getting ahead of myself.

It hit me one night in a cold sweat, four sleepless evenings and a hellish sore in my back. God I pray for death, but it never comes along. Maybe it’s for the best, my dog needs a friend. The same way you re-watch your favorite Premium Cable channels on your DVR when the addiction of television and the glare of empty space defeats your greatest hopes and dreams of a future worth living. A friend in technology is a friend greater than the outside world.

Each night staring into the vacant visions of monitors wanting to let it all go and fucking scream my head off. Then one day the feeling ceased to tickle the back of my tongue. A day where everything seemed to just make sense looking into another humans eyes hand in hand, eyes locked, the fact that I happen to be running on benzos and cheap beer mean nothing right now as our fears are lifted towards the sky of our fading dreams and broken hearts..

“Wake up kid! “ Not a Psilocybin flashback but a reality caused by the non hatred of ones self without tying a rope to your neck and your dick in your hand. You are no legend, you are a human fucking being the last time I cut myself shaving. I used to never think to touch a razor aside to give myself a reminder of how much I used to love my self and my great life decisions. When the site of blood got as boring as a snuff film. The drugs just don’t tap that special part of the brain that blocks out any faint hope of everything being ok, because its not. Nor will it ever be.

The time spent over the years, eyes open, heart on sleeve, massive drinking and one hell of a sleeping problem over the years have made me tired and beat up feeling. Each day ceases to bring forth any joy without the thought of your angelic face decayed in an interesting manner. Your voice rings through my telephone, or my ears. What’s really the difference anymore? The point is that you will never live up to the kings of times past. You are your own pawn in whatever game of life you choose to follow down. My loss was my feelings of pain towards one self and the self destruction of openly made punishment towards ones self. Leave me alone and I’ll die by your side in a bed of nails and semen stains of love past. I let you in and you tore me apart. These things do happen, opposite of what this existence should be, or should have ever became. My first grade teacher was right when he gripped me up for using the wrong handed scissors and calling me a wasted gift of his lords cock. Maybe I should’ve taken his advice or shoved those scissors through his fucking face cavity and deep into my wrist calling for my self pity. How could this happen? Fuck my name, what have we become under the fog filled evenings and rotting picnic benches where we carved our names for the world to see. Last I saw the tables were a playground for middle aged moms to bring their children to. A safe haven that happens to have swallowed all we ever cared for in a mass sea of plastic sea creatures,and piss stained slides.
Maybe this will all pass? Maybe I'll have a draino shot with Jameson? Or maybe I'll stop typing this and walk away? Maybe close these eyes and sink into the normalcy of my self made prision of my life.

Yeah Dolecki gave me the idea for the Five Boro ride all in one day hitting up the best pizza joints in the NYC. Would anyone be down for this the day after or before the Red Bull Jam?
I was thinking that before it gets too cold to try to set up a path thru all Five Boro's in NYC stopping at each famous/best pizza joint on the way,and riding our bmx bikes on everything we can. Along with drinking a 40oz/Four Loko in each Boro. Seems like a fun idea,just causing traffic problems,eating pizza,and living the New York City life for a day. Would anyone be interested in this? Start at like 9am,end well whenever we get the job done. City dudes who also know all the best pizza spots,and riding spots please help out. I haven't been to NYC since two weeks after 9/11 even though I live under two hours away(Im an idiot),so the bigger the crew the better. Im hitting up this Vans event on the 16th of October: Either with a press pass for both the House Of Vans,maybe they'll let me ride I RSVP'd haa. But im more than positive I need a pass for the Red Ball jam,or ill take a seat just to watch the action I just know Im gonna want to ride it.

Failure Was Never So Bitter Sweet.

I've been putting in a shitload of work over at Dig Bmx Magazine over the past three issues,so yes that rules alot. On to some shitty news,my partner with Delco Brand Clothing has moved on from the BMX and clothing business and is more into getting his "real life" started.
Its never fun to see your buddies fall off,but thats reality. And fuck me if it doesn't suck dog dick. But life goes on,you just have to deal with it,regardless of how much rubbish you have to deal with to wear a smile on your face. For a while I gave up on pretty much everything,after a disaster of a trip to the Midwest where I ruined a very good friendly relationship with a female friend of mine. After that came my knee injury,and the negative shit just kept pilling up like the trash bags full of leaves under the trees in mid autumn.
Aside from writing for Dig,I work at my local township Police station. Im a clerk,no more no less,I answer phones,watch the cells,and hold down shop. I usually work 12am-8am,or 4pm-12am. Tonight it is 4pm-8am,sixteen hours of my eyes being fried open by monitors and never knowing what may happen.
Im not complaining but after a miserable 25th birthday,which no one showed up to,or spending NYE with friends only to fall asleep out of my head at a mere 12:30am. I started taking more,and more pain medication for my knee. I figured,shit if it doesn't hurt I can ride on my knee. Very bad idea,not only was I moving away from the green and getting into pain medication to make it so I could go out and ride,and in a more negative light to forget the situation I caused for myself and my friend many miles from home.
One day I woke up,and just said fuck it. No more destroyers of my body,I want to be as motivated and happy as I was before I was twenty one. I just couldn't let go of the fact that I was into someone who wanted nothing to do with me and my shitty ways of living. I tried and tried to get over it,to no avail. Then when Dolecki asked me to write some words for Dig,I jumped at the chance. It feels good to be asked to do something for people and a publication you respect.
Does this oppertunity get me the girl? This isn't a John Cussack film. I just have to move on. To what? I have no fucking idea to be honest. I mean shit I didn't even have a girl in my life who liked me,and who I liked back until I was nineteen years of age. When I was in high school I just traveled the States on my bmx,shredding pools,and whatever else was rideable. It was a good time,but I didn't have a back up plan. I never had a normal high school career. I would travel and hang with the older guys,bike night at the old skatepark was more important than social studies.Most of all BMX was more important to me than chicks. I wasn't the best looking dude,I always seemed to smash my face up before each High School dance. Im very consistant with injuries it seems. But,yeah I never kissed the girls I always wanted to kiss. And I don't blame them for wanting nothing to do with me and my fucked up ideals,ratty hair,and broken front teeth.
But what is this rant about aside from killing time?I still have like eleven hours of work. I just wanted to say that Im sorry for everything,and to everyone I ever did wrong in these past twenty five years. Especially over the past three years,and my four years in High School. It just gets a bit old riding FDR alone,solo street sessions,and not having your cellphone make a peep for days.
Now Im in no way a grown up,I was just told by my shift SGT. that I look like a fucking mess. Yes he is right,I really let myself just fall down the black hole towards rock bottom in my heart. Every other chick who seems into me,just cannot seem to commit,or has another boy in their lives who isn't an asshole who smokes too much green. Im ashamed,embarresed and really could crawl into a ditch,put a fucking bullet in my head and say FUCK IT. But what Im getting at is maybe BMX is the answer at least for me in my personal life. Sure Im not tailwhipping double flights of stairs,or over crooked grinding 34 stair rails,I still have a smile on my face everytime I rip aroun a tight bowl corner,down a ledge,or just bombing a hill.
I just feel with this chance over at Dig that I can kind of start over again,build up more local respect and maybe have the ammount of friends I had before. I miss my life,and most importantly I never really had a chance to tell my feelings straight to the person I always wanted to spend more time with. It will never happen,but just to feel a meaningful hug again would probably ruin me. I'd collapse with just this over abundance of happiness. So I reckon that the point of this rant is that,you really never know who you have until they're gone,or maybe just think your the trash of the world. Its not my heart,and its not my feelings. I just feel as if this needed to be said. Go watch some videos on and talk some shit up over there. Thanks for your time if you actually read this. See you at 8am.

Earth-2: Special Low Frequency Version

Earth is an american band formed in 1990 in Olympia, Washington, USA by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon, and Greg Babior. They are pioneers in the minimalistic and repetitive form of doom metal known as drone doom, music that is heavier than heavy, using incredibly downtuned guitars and usually playing no more than a couple riffs per song.
They broke up between 1997 and 2003. Their musical style ranges from abrasive drone metal, to stoner rock and lately more minimalist, meditative music on the last few albums.

Earth 2: Special Low-Frequency Version is their first full-length studio album. It has been known as one of the pioneering drone doom albums, influencing such contemporary acts as Sunn O))) and Boris among others.

"The path to a unique "stoner" sound is a long and winding road. Like the journey to Ithaca or a handful of mushrooms, the prize is in the trip. A popular path to crushing heaviness is to travel with company and rip off a Matt Pike project. Another famous shortcut is to endlessly jam on three riffs that never amount to Dopethrone.

Snail are not interested in shortcuts or pussy-footing. You don't get nothing for free, and this one took the long way. Snail formed in '92, back when Kyuss still had the blues and Sleep were still scaling the mountain. Their comically belated sophomore album, Blood, slovenly plods through gravity-altering sludge and weightless psych, with a taste for alternative that's refreshing.

The opener, "Mental Models," offers nothing but the porch treatment. Then the second cut, "Sleep," sounds like Smashing Pumpkins drowning, suffering and still rocking. "Via/Penny Dreadful" forces flashbacks to the dissonant grooves of the almighty Soundgarden. Fuck Chris Cornell, hard, but Snail's Badstonerfinger has a nice touch. Tracks like "Relief" and "Backlight" offer light, smoky respites from the sludge that wafts through the air like unwritten Monster Magnet jams. All the while, Snail's noise-warped solos, as in "Not for Me," burn off the juices in your brain. A good feeling.

The path to a unique stoner sound is littered with seeds and stems, sick tones and thick riffs-and in this case, with cavernous clean vocals and catchy choruses. In 2009, Blood is an enjoyable departure from the social norms and mores of heaviness."

FDR, and my neighborhood. The rating of what's particularly "most favorite" rotates with each day.

Favorite Spot Of All Time? See trails question below, but you can also include a town pool in NJ, FDR which is probably my favorite concrete park of all time, and then there's my neighborhood, which the entire neighborhood is at this point becoming my favorite street spot of all time.

Trails or Rails When It Comes To Photography?
Both, as they both command equal respect, riding or photo-wise. Trails or rails- as anyone who's gotten killed on either knows, you can never under-estimate them.

PA Woods or Northern New Jersey Trails(W.B in 2002 was so wild)?
The 'Bridge was my local trail spot for about 10 years, and was probably my favorite place ever to ride (Thanks to Alan Moy, Steve Kaczur, and countless others who dedicated so much time to them) By the time I moved to Philly 3 years ago, all the OG dudes had stopped riding and there wasn't much of a scene left at the trails. It was kind of depressing working on a section, leaving on a trip for two weeks, then coming home to see that the section was all washed out from rain and having to start the process all over again (Tarps really hadn't come into normal trail maintenance yet), especially when there wasn't really anyone else at least riding and enjoying the work I put in. The last few years I lived near the trails, that scenario repeated itself multiple times. Not to mention riding the trails 4 out of 5 times by myself those last couple of years wasn't that enjoyable- for me, trails are only real fun when riding with other people, and a hell of a lot less scary. So once I moved to Philly, that ended my time working on the trails. It's good to hear there is a younger crew of dudes along with FTH's Chris Barry keeping them going and building some new stuff; I'm actually going there today. So after that long- winded explanation, and to answer the question- PA woods are now my preference when I'm not traveling, it's not raining, and I'm not hurt (this year, that meant a whole 2 days of riding there, ha ha.)

Where Is Steven Kaczur?
It's been a minute since I've seen K; he's taken his love for BMX over to custom choppers. K was one of the most dedicated trail builders ever, and always fun to go on trips with. We've been on some crazy trips; the Argentina one like six years ago was probably the craziest.

Brian Foster On A Roller,or Brian Foster Locked Into A Pedal Crook?
Anything BF does looks smooth, but I might have to go with a roller, since he's been making that look good for over 20 years.

How Hard Is It To Juggle Riding,And Shooting,Especially In Places Like Costa Rica? Not hard at all; I just go to the beach.

Been just dicking around with some short stories and what not, read it you'd like and have a pretty doom and gloom mindset the vast majority of your post teenage life,this is a true one here with some name changes due to me not being a dickhead:
(its kind of sad and personal,but so is real life.)

Her glasses sat on her forehead resting behind the wheel,had we crashed? She had been behind the wheel all night,the back seat very quiet on our way across the great Keystone State and into the Urban/Cornfield death maze that is Ohio in route to our destination,Indiana. My fourth least favorite state. Normally we'd be all talks and smiles. I really had some sickening,"I made a huge mistake" type feeling in my gut. See over a year had gone by since our last journey and my feelings were the same. This was an war I could not win. She was the Nam to me when it came to not ending in utter defeat,mental anguish,and most importantly failure. You see failure is one human emotion that I know quite well. You see I've never handled these things in the manner that they should be handled. This was and is a happy go lucky female in the prime of her life,and here I'am some mid twenties pothead with a weird obsession with scratching my beard. The ball would never fall in my court and as we reached State College it finally had dawned on me. You will never get what you want. The trip went on,as I continued to pretend to sleep,not to cry,and all the other things you wouldn't expect a grown ass man to do in the back seat of your good friends automobile. I was alone,aside from her friend next to me,and some faceless dude in the front seat,who I didn't even think had a name who ended up being the enemy in this battle. The defeat flag was raised. I had lost. But I hid my pride best I could and pressed on towards the Midwest for four days of Hell. I wanted to sit her down and tell her how I felt for over a year now,sure I had dropped hints on my feelings but never went for it. She was too kind,too perfect. And I was just a piece of shit. I wanted to let her know that I'd never let anything bad happen to her,and I'd love to just fucking hold her hand and kiss her on the lips and just say,"Sorry."
Why say sorry? Because she meant the world to me,and I knew that she would never know how much she really meant to me. Fuck the trip,and fuck the details of my constant heartache. She is moving away in a few months probably forever. As long as she is happy,then I guess that Im happy to. Just for her,I'll remain alone and miserable probably until my death. I've had too many almost and fuck you's in my day. Throw in the towel at 24? Who knows,I just wanted to write this in case she reads this and realizes that I loved you,and im sorry I wasn't there when I should've been. I guess what Im trying to say to the readers,sometimes its best to let something you love go,than to let it destroy you and your liver day after day.

Easily Xasthur's most unsettling release yet of dark, despondant black metal with the aura that only Xasthur(and tons of dudes who hate life living at home still,myself included) can create.

So all things grim aside,how is the internet doing? I know how print is doing so why ask and just talk to myself? Seems like every website I venture to,even some BMX related have either some sort of penis pill,or a way to take advantage of average joe recession surviver. Its pretty sickening but,so is wasting all these hours we do typing our lives away bitching about slow connection times while some child starves in some far away country. Meanwhile I just threw away half a bowl of Turkey Chili because my dogs can't stomach it. Do I feel like a dick when I waste food...yes,should I not make posts when I'm ripped...yes.

Another classic record from an awesome time period of my life. For some reason I never listen to this as much as I should, Spent many evenings in high school at the skatepark blasting this over the shitty stereo system and everyone riding with a huge smile on their face. Get into it. This record is also in like every single early 2000's Props issues as well haa. Simpler times man. And who can forget the slow-motion nosedive in the intro if Anthem:Home Of The Brave. Im not a fan of The Shadow Conspiracy or their products so I was hesitant to watch their Come Up exclusive video. Its cool of Shadow in my opinion to help a dude like Adam who started this weird green backgrounded website into one of the most hated/beloved blogs in BMX today. ABC Diablo-Give Rise To Doubts

"ABC Diabolo were a brilliant, but oft overlooked early crust/post hardcore band from Germany. As potent as Neurosis and His Hero Is Gone were at the time, but you seldom hear much about ABC Diabolo these days. Bands don't cover their tunes, kids don't sport the shirts, it's almost as if they didn't exist. Here is their final statement, the agonizing and mesmerizing Give Rise To Doubts LP from 1995. I could be wrong, but I believe this album was among the first releases by the amazing Life Is Abuse label."

Amebix-Monolith

"Amebix is one of the best bands ever, and monolith is their best album.it was the last one they recorded preceded by no sanctuary, arise, the power remains, and some singles and eps.from the first to last track it is awesome.two of the three members went onto the band zygote afterwards with members of the band smartpils.zygote released a record called 89-91, and a cd titled a wind of knives.if you like amebix a highly recommend zygote."

"Legendary band from the USA. One of the first and most influential USBM bands of all time. This is an album from 1995, consisting of raw, primitive black metal."

Enough with my general bullshit and on with this feeble attempt at a short story out of work boredom:
"Rain again." Yeah,all week I heard. Shouting over the speeding cars and honking horns. "Fucking soaked!" The stranger said. Honesty from a stranger,where was I? Oh yeah home. After all these years, shit has come full circle in this disease I call my life. But who am I to complain? Every shitty thing that I've ever done, was for you. Leaving for a trip out west to escape her face and my sorrow. As much as it fucked me, as much as it helped in the long run shes gone. Fuck the rain,I thought and walked back to my parents house where I was staying, I knew my welcome was short but it was sweet. I packed a bong and sat with my thoughts. She was gone, and I had taken it the wrong way and ran it to the ground.
"I was awoken by a speed bump cramped inside the small Honda,reeking of trail mix,body odor and joint roaches. Along with someone I cared about but never said a word about my feelings towards her. I had ruined past relationships just to make this fictional feeling of love for a run around the block to failure. Sitting in a shitty hotel on the outskirts of some Midwestern ghetto town. With my tounge in my mouth,keeping my mouth shut and regretting it in the long run. Things were never the same and never was I. I'll never see her face again,as much as I cared I didn't care enough I guess. And my bad habbits didn't help either. It was all downhill from there,shit got fucked I hit the bottle hard. How could I take this so badly?
Fucked is what I was with our relationship as friends. Shes gone,and Im here. Its still raining outside and Im thinking of how wonderful your arms would feel around me,as i guzzle my last bottle of Wild Turkey,and finish off the stolen bottle of xanax I took from my friends bathroom mirror. Fuck you,and fuck your sympathy.

It's weird because I heard he was stabbed to death a couple of years ago. We even had an all Danzig day at the office in memorial and I was sad. Now it's being reported that his most recent "death" is most likely a hoax. I really hope this dude is alive. Nobody can backhand the ride cymbal quite like Chuck."
mer Chuck Biscuits, who played with Black Flag and Danzig, has died of throat cancer at the age of 44.

Information is scarce, but an e-mail from a family member confirmed to a music blog that Biscuits succumbed to the disease on October 24th.

"In response to the inquires, thank you for all the support," an anonymous family member wrote in an e-mail sent this morning. "Chuck did not survive his battle with throat cancer. He passed surrounded by his family on 10/24/09."

Biscuits also worked with the Circle Jerks and Run DMC during his career, and is rumored to have been a consideration as a drummer for Nirvana before Dave Grohl was selected.

Rumours of the demise of Chuck Biscuits have evidently been greatly exaggerated. Earlier today, everyone from AbsolutePunk.net to Entertainment Weekly reported that the former D.O.A. drummer-who left the music business in 1999-has died of throat cancer on October 24 after a long illness.

The "death" was reported by blogger James Greene Jr., who wrote that he had spent the past six months corresponding via e-mail with Biscuits and his wife. In the hours after the story went viral, Greene's website, www.jgtwo.wordpress.com was bombarded with posts demanding proof of the death.

The Straight contacted Biscuit's former bandmate Joey Keithley, singer-guitarist of D.O.A.. He confirmed that Biscuits is very much alive.

In the meantime, Greene has evidently accepted that he was the victim of an elaborate prank. On his Website, he wrote the following after being bashed repeatedly for posting the death notice despite having nothing to go on except for emails from people purporting to be Biscuits and his wife.

Greene wrote: How do you "check hard facts" or "verify" anything about a guy who went off grid ten years ago and the people who allegedly knew him best won't return your e-mails? I tried, you guys, I really fuckin' tried. I spent a good chunk of '08 searching for Chuck and info on Chuck. All I got was Bill Goddamn Stevenson. No one was talking.

"I wrote a thing about Biscuits anyway and then, out the blue, some fucker calling himself by that name who looks like the guy on the record sleeves starts corresponding with me. What the fuck am I supposed to do? Call shenanigans? Whatever happened to trust? Who would lie about being Chuck Biscuits? Especially to a piece of "vermin" like me on the lowest rung of the totem pole?

"Has anyone ever lied to you for six months about being a terminally ill hero of your musical youth? It's fucking weird. You think I wasn't devastated when I read the e-mail the other day that announced his "death?" That's why I wrote this blog in the first place. I wanted to give CB the obit I knew he deserved. I knew there'd be source questions, but what was I supposed to do, e-mail his "wife" back and be like, "Hey, can you send me pics of the body?" I had no suspicions. I thought I had this shit on lock down. Who would lie to a NOBODY blogger about this kind of thing for so long?

"It's easy to attack me in hindsight, but again - this had been going on since May. Who the fuck lies about being a dying Chuck Biscuits for half a year? Are my friends/enemies smart enough to hack enough related e-mail accounts to perpetrate something like this? I just want to know how it happened.

"I'd also like some more conclusive proof that Chuck isn't dead aside from e-mails from people whose existence I can't further verify.

i was really blown away by their work; it is a shining example of cinematic, electronica-tinged instrumental postrock. the duo fuses processed drums, spacious keyboards and powerful organ swells with electric guitar and bass, creating deep sonic textures while maintaining the passion and energy of a live band. the swirling soundscapes build and swell, punctuated by glitchy beats, breathing and expanding into crashing guitars and soaring leads: precisely constructed symphonies for a new era.
unlike most of the music i feature on hiddenplace music, this album is not available for free download, but this excellent music is absolutely worth purchasing- The Memory Stream is most certainly on my "best of 2008" list.

American Dollar-The Technicolour Sleep [2007]

Pure Beauty Set To Soundscapes.With their self-titled debut album, The American Dollar proved one thing: it could write one hell of a single. "War on Christmas," the album’s opener, is one of the most engaging and transcendent songs written in the past couple of years, despite having running time of less than four minutes. However, this track proved to be a double edged sword, as it appears that the band used all of its talents in crafting it and left nothing for the following nine songs. When the release of the follow-up album, The Technicolour Sleep, was announced for early 2007, one could not help but wonder if the new album might go the way of the final nine tracks of the debut and fall under the shadow of the almighty "War on Christmas."

It is debatable whether or not the band itself recognized the disparity between "War on Christmas" and the rest of its debut, but regardless, all doubts are washed away within the first 3:12 of The Technicolour Sleep. "Rudiments of a Spiritual Life" blasts its way out of the speakers, effectively instilling hope that this album will live up to the band's initial potential. The overall feeling of The Technicolour Sleep has not changed much from the self-titled debut as The American Dollar still employ a shoegaze/electronica sound along the lines of M83 or Logh, but the emotion and grandeur of the entire album rivals that of the aforementioned "War on Christmas." As a cohesive work of art,thisis one of the most skillfully executed albums in recent memory. From the clicks and whirs that freckle the façade of the softer ambient moments to the build-up of tension before the cathartic release, every second of this album has been meticulously crafted to remedy the mistake of the debut.

Another improvement over the predecessor is the proficiency in drumming which raises the enjoyment of the album exponentially. Ambient and electronica artists sometimes have the tendency to give their arrangements too much free reign and as a result may sound too whimsical or airy. With the fantastic drumming on The Technicolour Sleep, The American Dollar avoid this problem and keep the arrangements grounded in reality. There is a marked upbeat quality to this album that was not evident in the self-titled, and the drumming really adds to that quality. Whereas there weren’t many stand-out tracks on the debut outside of "War on Christmas," it is hard to pick a stand-out on The Technicolour Sleep only because each track brings a new element or sound to the album that is invaluable to the mood and feeling.

It is rare that I can say with a good amount of confidence that an album released this early will likely be one of my top albums of the year, but it is going to take several extraordinary albums to devalue The Technicolour Sleep. It was a shame that these guys weren’t signed to a label after the release of their debut album, but it would be an absolute tragedy if they didn’t get label attention after this landmark album.

Earth 2: Special Low-Frequency Version is the first full-length studio album by drone doom band Earth. It has been known as one of the pioneering drone doom albums, influencing such contemporary acts as Sunn O))) and Boris.And is it a fucking treat.
The riffing on the first track aside, Earth 2 bears little relation to rock music as we currently know it. To put it simply, if you're looking for something that "rocks", you should probably pass this album up. However, if you're willing to immerse yourself in Earth's massive soundscapes and have the patience to listen to the album unfold from fairly standard Sabbath-esque metallic riffing ('Seven Angels'), to increasingly abstracted riffs ('Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine'), and finally to a heavy sustained drone with only microtonal variations and incredibly sparse percussion ('Like Gold And Faceted'), then you will find few albums quite as rewarding to listen to as this one. Set aside some time, turn up the stereo, put Earth 2 on, and immerse yourself in this mammoth of a record

Gris manages to hypnotize you with their repetitive riffs and the strong atmosphere, produced by the keyboard in the background. On metal-archives.com, I've found as lyrical theme ".Balance between Depression and Joy", and I think that's what their music is about. On the one side the created atmosphere is highly depressive, but on the other side Gris gives you some room to stand up and see the light at the end of the tunnel, only to smash you down again, a few seconds later.
ut not only the great songwriting is a virtue of this record, Icare (Vocals) has managed to give his music with his doleful vocal-style, which you could compare also to Burzum or Silencer, an even more melancholic touch.

Niflheim - Neurasthénie (2006)

""Tonight's Appleseed Cast performance at DC9 was prefaced with an fabulous surprise. Local openers "Solar Powered Sun Destroyer" put on a truly epic live show. A five piece, they play a brand of melodic hardcore that draws equal amounts from Brian Eno and Isis. They don't sound a whole lot like most DC hardcore bands that have existed thus far, which certainly isn't a bad thing. Their sound veers into emo territory but is vicious and crushing quite often and never whiny. Overall they would fit well on a bill alongside other "post-metal" bands such as Pelican and Cult of Luna, but they certainly also fit well alongside The Appleseed Cast."

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Bookburner is a mysterious and brutal Powerviolence/grind band that clearly loves Man Is the Bastard. Hell, a third of this very short (7.5 minutes) release is comprised of a noise track reminiscent of Bastard Noise. While there isn't really anything original about this record, that doesn't mean it doesn't slay. To me, this is the most brutal release of 2008.

"When Pennsylvania scuzz-punks Pissed Jeans released their Sub Pop debut, Hope for Men, two years ago, the album seemed to represent a noble if financially foolhardy way for the label to reinvest their Shins and Postal Service profits. Though Sub Pop, of course, first built its empire two decades ago on caustic, post-hardcore rock, the few signees to mine that tradition since the mid-1990s-- from godheadSilo to Murder City Devils to the Catheters-- tended to have tokenistic standing on an increasingly diversified and commercially viable roster. Pissed Jeans thus appeared to be the latest addition to this lunatic fringe: one that provided a spiritual link to the imprint's storied past, but-- given the limited crossover potential for caterwauling, guttural noise-core-- hardly a foundation for their future.

But two years later, our appetite for absurdist punk-rock seems to be on an uptick. The Jesus Lizard and Butthole Surfers are hitting the reunion-tour circuit, playing venues larger than the ones they filled in their heydays; Fucked Up have scored Fox News-pundit gigs and a nomination for Canada's Polaris Music Prize. Pissed Jeans, meanwhile, have answered this pigfuck-apoolaza with an album that could potentially elevate the band to Sub Pop franchise players. If Hope for Men was distinguished by the canyon-wide chasm between the band's ugly aggression and frontman Matt Korvette's seemingly frivolous lyrical concerns (the potential for a Whole Foods sponsorship remains sadly unrealized), King of Jeans successfully consolidates these two strengths, harnessing the earlier record's sometimes directionless fire-extinguisher splatter into shake-appealing rock action, and cohering Korvette's ramblings into a more complete picture of wage-slave misanthropy and alpha-male inadequacy.

On paper, that latter part might read like the makings of a mid-life crisis record (à la the Wrens' Meadowlands), but the difference is Korvette wears his failure like a badge of honor. And where Hope for Men's carpet-bomb onslaught sometimes obscured the relatable quality of Korvette's observations, on King of Jeans, they're organized into shout-back slogans cathartic enough to keep enraged 9-to-5ers from going postal: on opener "False Jesii Part 2", Korvette answers a litany of social pressures-- from going to the gym to wearing a "tight black shirt"-- with a boisterous holler of "I don't bother!" before celebrating his slothfulness with a playground-taunt chorus of "nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah," all to the steady beat of a tambourine, no less.

No one's going to confuse this with pop music, of course, but Pissed Jeans have certainly become more economical and precise in their attack-- gone are Hope for Men's extended exercises in textural noise terror ("People Person") and piano-blues concrète ("Scrapbooking"). In its place are two-minute Germs infections ("Human Upskirt"), Buttholes blurts ("Pleasure Race"), and crazed Nick Cave cattle calls ("Half Idiot"-- a soulmate to "Zoo-Music Girl"). And in "Request for Masseuse", we hear the closest Pissed Jeans will probably ever get to a slow-jam: over guitarist Bradley Fry and bassist Randy Huth's oozing Iommi/Butler riff, Korvette lists off a series of instructions for his personal-ad pleasure-giver; when drummer Sean McGuinness kicks into the lurching groove 90 seconds in, Korvette lets out the creepiest sigh ever, graphically confirming the ending was a happy one.

But if "Request for Masseuse" represents a rare expression of joy for Korvette, King of Jeans' centerpiece track, "Spent", underscores how fleeting such moments really are. At seven minutes, the song is about three times as long as the average track here, but rather than being the most elaborate piece, it's the most despairingly regressive. Where King of Jeans' more compact tracks provide us the opportunity to scream or laugh along with Korvette's complaints, "Spent" is a 16-rpm Melvins-grade sludge feast that slows down the self-loathing commentary to ensure we feel every second of his agony; after counting off the ways his life sucks ("I went and got my car back/ There's a new noise this time"), he finally loses it when he realizes that even a "cold glass of water... [doesn't] satisfy." Recent history tells us that angry, confrontational music tends to flourish during Republican administrations, but King of Jeans illuminates the problems that plague the working man-- receding hairlines, the inability to relate to girls, the transactional nature of romance, the impossibility of proper cuticle maintenance-- regardless of who's running the country or how the economy is doing. The bumper sticker may say "Yes we can," but the guy driving the leased Hyundai on which it's affixed is still left there staring at himself in the rearview mirror, thinking, "No, dude, I really can't."

Going to be working weird hours all this month at work,kinda sucks but its rough right now in the states. Work is work,shit if your a hooker your probably loaded at the moment,same goes for liquor stores,drug dealers,all the grimy shit that you associate with inner city life have been spreading like a bad case of herpes all over the suburbs.Tons of home invasions,heroin,shootings,and other usually non suburban things are now the norm. These savages just need to smoke more trees or something because its getting out of hand here in Delco.Most of the best spots around have become very,very dangerous in my area.Chester Pa,one of the best cities around,shit I have more fun in this small city than I do during most post X-Gaymes Philly sessions,but with the harsh string of drive by shootings have been making me think twice about crossing the railroad tracks into the urban death maze that is basically untouched by the bmx and skateboarding community due to how bad it is. The spots are everywhere but one wrong turn could put you in a bodybag.I shit you not.The Delco video is coming,money discussions will be going down over a bottle tonight after work so if you do read this blog keep checking back for details.

CHESTER - They work roughly 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., the "power shift" detail. Proactive and aggressive, the lone but lofty goal for these eight or so members of the Chester Police Department is to ensure quality of life for every city resident.

The majority of the time, that involves guns and drugs.

Officers have been pelted with empty Snapple bottles, among other things, thrown by supportive friends as they chased down armed suspects. An angry mother even accused one of planting a loaded Ruger in place of what she said was her son's BB gun.

Last week, when Officer William Murphy busted a pair of 17-year-olds for firearm possession, the father of one of the suspects was nearby and approached, asking the officer what was going on.

"I just arrested your son for having a gun," Murphy said Friday, recalling the bizarre street corner exchange.

"Oh, is that all?" Murphy said the father snapped back at him that night.

Such blatant lack of concern for his pistol-packing teenage son, as well as the community overall, is a mindset that the police department is dedicated to reversing, according to Chief Floyd Lewis and Maj. Darren Alston.

Friday afternoon, Alston rolled out an arsenal of 31 handguns, rifles and shotguns - all street weapons confiscated by "power shift" officers under the supervision of Sgt. Otis Blair between July 1 and Sept. 30.

Those same firearms resulted in 34 arrests, according to Alston.

Combined with efforts department wide, Detective Capt. Joseph Massi said officers have recovered a total of 133 firearms and arrested 82 people on weapons offenses since January - a 62 percent clearance rate.

"It's a clear reflection of the aggressive patrols," Massi said.

In a city that's seen 88 shootings this year, 10 of which were fatal, Alston said aggressive measures have proven successful - and will continue.

Alston credited anonymous tips for many of the arrests and recovered firearms. He also encouraged the community to continue providing the information officers need to keep the streets safe.

"Adults need to get more involved," said Alston, particularly parents who know or suspect their children might be involved in illegal activities, including packing firearms.

"Start looking in backpacks and bedrooms, and if you find something you have to turn it in," Alston said. "The next time there is a shooting, it could be one of your own."

Blair's team includes Murphy, John Benozich, Jonathan Ross, Stephen Rosinski, William Shaw and Stephen Sheppleman. Member Victor Henness is currently out injured. Combined, the officers bring 70 years of city police experience to the detail.

"They are out manning the streets during the peak crime hours," said Lewis, noting that disclosing specifics could be detrimental.

Regarding guns overall, Massi said, "There is zero tolerance."

But tougher tactics are now taken on someone found loitering on a residential property, warned Blair.

"Now, if you are breaking the law, you are going to be charged," Blair said.

Most recently, officers confiscated a loaded 9 mm Ruger while patrolling the 400 block of East 20th Street, about 1:40 a.m. Oct. 1.

Terry Lee Randall, 43, of the 2300 block of Upland Street, was arrested, charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, altering marks of identification and disorderly conduct.

The arrest resulted from what Blair described as suspicious activity involving three people, including a female who was subsequently charged with drug offenses.

Since the "power shift" officers do not work a regular beat, Lewis said they have the luxury to focus on all quality-of-life issues, from loitering to curfew violations.

"Regular patrols are reactive. These guys are proactive," he said.

Despite the confiscated weapons, officers know there are many more on the street.

"We deal with everyone as though they are carrying," Blair said. "Is that right? No. But it is reality.

"We all want to make it home and we also want to maintain safety for the general public," he said.

According to Blair, officers have recovered firearms in a number of places, including the rafters in homes, behind water heaters and stuffed in car speakers.

Though it targets the whole city, the "power shift" will focus on hotspots. Currently, that includes the Caldwell Street corridor - which runs from Route 291 to Ninth Street, bordered by Eddystone and Morton Avenue - and the William Penn Housing Project and fringe neighborhoods.

Anyone with information helpful to police is urged to call 911 or the city's tip hotline at 610-447-7810. The information provided will remain anonymous.

Tipsters can also pick up postcards at the police station or at city hall and mail the information to investigators.

I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of Mutiny Bikes latest DVD release "Lets Get Mystical". From Synergy instead of going with the trusted Baker 3. But Im not going to do a run down of who does what. All you need to know is that this team knows how to ride their bikes,Joe Simon rules at filming/editting even if he stole my Pink Floyd song. But if you want a video with a bunch of assholes doing half ass tuck no handers than this video is not for you. If your into a bunch of non over exposed spots,goodtimes,and insane creative riding go get a copy and judge for yourself. Video allstar is George Boyd though. WHAT THE FUCK??
All in all this is way more satisfying than S.O.B.P and just has a good vibe to it. Go to your local shop now.

Contributions from vocalist Attila Csihar pretty much set the mood in the actual seats inside of the First Unitarian Church on 22nd and Chestnut Street in the city of brotherly love. This show was a spur of the moment decision that could not have been made at a more perfect time. I've seen Sunn 0))) on three tours now, Black One,Grimmrobe Anniversary,and now the Monoliths and Dimensions tour. Now seriously Sunn 0))) is loud as fuck,not as loud this time as others. My main point of focus was on Attila making noises that didn't seem humanly possible and somehow making a 90 minute set feel like twenty minutes. The rows of the church were lit by candles,the smoke/fog machine pushed on long before Sunn 0))) took the stage and throughout the whole set as usual. Really a great performance on all levels including using the actual church organ,which was haunting in its own right. If these dudes come around your area,grab some ear plugs,some bud,and drop the fuck out of life. This was really one of the best post blunt ideas ever that worked out in a very good way.

Eighteen years into the BMX game currently,and its safe to say that I have seen my fair share of shredders come and go. Spots blow up,then die down,become forgotten only to be re-discovered by some sixteen year old and posted all over the internet,which I'm told is on computers now from some Dig ad I saw. I think its great that our lifestyle/sport is becoming more "mainstream" but is this in reality a positive? Fuck companys need to eat just as much as their riders but is it worth personal integrity to hold your Monster Energy Drink up to the camera and pretend that piss taste good? Something is wrong here. Sure David Mirra rode for Senate at one point(for you young folk that was once a Rollerblade company) shit he even was hooked up by Slim Jim. Where is the Macho Man? No one knows,what I do know is that besides being unreal on a bike,fuck you if you doubt "The Miracle Boy". Dude can shred anything,and everything,brakes,12 piece bars,whatever. Not only is Mirra an amazing bike rider always has,and always will be. I never really looked at him as a bike rider. He seemed like a good buisness man,who knew what he wanted,and got it all thru BMX. Kids these days learn tailwhips before pegstalls. Flairs used to win ramp contests,now every fourteen year old can throw themselves upsidedown. How did we go from the foot tall ledge to learn our first grind,to the 8 foot tall box jump to learn flips on? It never made sense to me. Bike riding is great in all forms. Shit if your some hip dude and ride your fixie around to score the muff,my hat goes off to you since you probably pull in more pussy than myself. What Iam trying to say is kids,if you read this just remember your roots. Not everyone has Red Bull to fall back on when they are thirsty,not everyone is hooked up by your favorite company all for being the local hero and doing the ever so deadly rail in your town that no one has ever touched. Besides bragging rights localized BMX is in no forms nor should it ever be a shit talking,or one upping session 24/7. Sure its hilarious to break balls,but being in "Thrasher Magazine"s words a "SESSION KILLER". Don't be that guy. No matter how hungry you are for that ever so elusive Volume Bikes deal,no one wants to help out a cocky dickhead. Ride your bike to ride your bike. Have fun,this shit doesn't last forever. So if your one of those career minded motherfuckers get out there go to Hoodcurd and learn some moves on the Resi-Rails. Film a webvideo and be sure your bars are 28" or over and your 5ft 4", Tuck no hander downstairs but be sure to rest your chin on your stem for added safety and grip. Film it. And post it on the web only for it to be ripped to shreds by a bunch of vultures. Bmx is what you make of it,and in my opinion I think more kids need to get into the fun part of bmx (roadtrips,trail building,steet mods,or just some brews at your local session spot) That to me is why I ride my Bmx. Hopefully your in this for the long run. Not to pull the quad whip on the street spine.

The new OM record is better than pretty much anything else that came out this year. (besides Weekend Nachos,and Buried Inside,this is a pretty strong release and def. in my running for record of 2009) But some of the drumming is not as minimal as it could have been,which kind of takes away from the general calm feeling of past OM releases. Or maybe I just hate change. Emil does good work,but yeah he isn't no Chris behind the kit.

If you've seen Fully Flared You know what this is all about.

I was gone for around 40 days,decided not to scan the photos and took photos,of my photos with my Mac's webcam. So they are kinda weird and hard to tell whats going on in them,but that was my idea. Just trying new ideas and what not. Enjoy. There are some old Tom White and Chase Hawk photos in here as well.Along with a write up of the trip of a lifetime at the age of 17.

Seventeen Years old...wow,it seems like forever ago. I'm twenty four years old at the moment and I would be lying if I said that I still don't feel like a ten year old blasting his first curbcut out front of his home and wondering...what else is out there? Day trips with friends through out grade school took me to the famous Drexel Brook Trails,Toms River A.S.S,Lakewood,NYC,Boston,Maryland,New Hampshire,Ohio,ect,ect. Around the time of 9/11 I was riding and keeping in close contact with Brian Wizmerski,and Bob Scerbo. As was Ryan Navazio and Local Shredder. With all of the knowledge gained from all of our sources, (a BIG THANK YOU TO THRASHER MAGAZINE,and Wiz for being a savage when it came to his hard earned spot findings)so after a trail jam at Woodbridge a few days after a contest and Etnies video premire (where a drunken Joe Rich thought me and Magilla were breaking balls watching ECD,but thats a totally different story all together). So down at the trails the idea was born, "Hey since none of us wanted to hit up Woodward this summer,we have money saved up lets go to all these spots that we talk about all the time." People dropped out like flies leaving us with myself,Tom,LS,and Navaz was taking an extended trip out to LA by plane. So we gathered up all our research maps,ropes,bolt cutters,apples,tubes,skate magazines,phone numbers,and $350 each. This was actually happening! Everyone who bitched out was staying down at the beaches in Deleware,so we spent a few days dicking around in the ocean,and getting ready for a good time. We left towards Maryland,but said fuck Baltimore due to all of us being there so many times,we wanted to get to VA to ride the fullpipes. What a treat,pretty much tranny banks to wallrides that you can carve,not sure if they still exist but its worth the trip down. From there is kinda of a blur of heat,not sleeping,amazing ditches,set ups,pools,skateparks,and tranny walls. I was a scumbag and didn't have my license so I was steady lets make sure who ever is driving doesn't crash and kill us all dude. A road trip of this size with only three people is no easy task. I remember after riding an amazing part of West VA we hit up an amazing outdoor skatepark,tons of street jibs,and looking around the water front for some pipes we were tipped off about which ended up being ribbed and not rideable after a two hour hike thru muck and snakes. I was awoke by a wildman posing as a truckdriver who was not very happy about us "overusing" the truck stop and especially me hiding from the severe weather by sleeping under the car. Moving along we made it to Lousiville to hit up the at the time newly built 24 hour concrete monster of a park. We were met with the usual southern slang of, "Yawl ain't from around heres are ya?" Trying not to laugh we just said Philly and rode the fullpipes and bowls until the wee hours of the morning till I took a nap on my bike ontop of the vert ramp until I was awoken by a police officer causing me to wake up and shred somemore. Jimmy LeVan was our tour guide in the Ville and took us to an amazing pool where bottles were thrown at us,then a public pool with water in it. This is where i first heard of Ryan Metro as well,the Kentucky Rail King. Jimmy had a date and sent us down to Nashville and the rest of TN.More treats there,and onto Atlanta. Amazing stripclubs (I was 17 so this was unreal to me) the security guards at an undisclosed Federal Building were not too stoked on us riding their property with our trusty TRV-900. Even more spots awaited us in Atlanta and some shit got done.
Alabama was next,and wow. Mobile was a total ghost town with a ton of spots,and a stray dog. I busted my hand up before we left which was a bummer.Onto Louisiana...Wow does this place rule. Great locals,great spots,terrible heat,and bugs. Me and Tom on a search for gators found a now famous tranny wall on the edge of an undisclosed lake with awesome transfers and other fun shit.
Texas was next on the agenda...and once again my hand was destroyed by some harsh Houston concrete,more pools were rode,the police were pretty cool,the thugs by where we were parked after I was injured were not too decent.So we dipped out and onto Chase Hawks crib in Austin. The shower at Chase's was one of the best showers in my life and my first so far on this trip. One pair of brown dickies and three t-shirts.
Yikes,have times changed.We hit up the ramp ranch during the heat and checked out a contest where a then unknown Tom White was taking rebel runs pedal crooked grinding up the handrail and turning heads while me and LS rode the vert ramp with local legend A.J Camp. Afterwards more pools were destroyed,ditches were rode,and we checked out a not running 9th street,but Chuy's happy hour was very welcoming with its ever so hot waitress staff and amazing food. Chase took us to a Pizza buffet as well which was dialed,then we rode his old ramp which was a treat,i remember doing my first ever wallride out of a quarterpipe on that thing. After a day of swimming in two of the Austin areas water holes,we went down to San Angelo to stay with our buddy BJ who lived in Philly for a while.Warm showers,The Fucking Internet,and a homecooked meal was all I could ask for at this point in the trip,let alone how many good spots were on campus and how rad the water hole was.After the police arrested some chick for riding a tree ride we dipped out to look for the 35ft foot fullpipe as seen in an issue of Thrasher written by Salba about them being busted after the session,and the fact that Wiz,Scott Maylon,Wessel,GB,and Joe Rich had hit it up before Salba but those dudes weren't talking. We drove across Texas over the night stopping a few times to look at the vast sky of stars,and the reality that we are just children very far from home began to set in. It was by no means scary,but very,very calming.After showing the photo to gas station folk around the area we were tipped off about we drove thru a severe hail storm and a locust field before saying fuck it,we still have the Ammo Pipe to roast. On to Abiline to ride some concrete,park was a blast,amazing hips,lines everywhere,and some of the nicest locals ever.After getting pulled over on the way to Lubbock,we arrived in a town straight out of Tony Hawk Pro Skater,a town that I pretty much went on this trip for. If you've been there,then you know whats there and how good it is.Ditches,Tranny everywhere,and this dude that was doing backflip to manuals let us crash at his crib and fed us veggie burgers,I guess not all Jesus dudes are out of their heads. After riding all day in the Texas sun,and seeing footage of a tornado we headed up north to the location of the mighty Ammo pipe which is nowhere near where you think it is. Finding the pipe was easy,parking and hiking at 4am was not as easy. This place looks like a planet from Star Wars. Thirty feet tall she stands,complete with a carvable elbow and flatwalls.The 12ft barbedwire fence was scalled Fight Club style,with the Blazers foot rugs,and the bikes were handed over the fence. In and out like a teenager on prom night.Pretty scary knowing that serious jail time awaits if your gonna get busted in a fullpipe just a few months post 9/11. We got out of their found gasoline and made it to Santa Fe New Mexico to ride this real fun but slippery park,and some sandpit trails down the street. Onto a little bowl next located next to another public swim club,no bikes in the bowl but I took a few runs got sweaty and paid my $3.00 to go swimming. After a hike and a half thru the Meth Mountains/Deadlands we arrived in Alberts Turkey and went straight to the school with the hips,which were blasted,double ditch which gave everyone a flat but me,and Indian School ditch which was one of the best spots i ever rode. The public park was as good as it looked in videos and photos and had one of the best/gnarly bowl ever.Real good locals,showed us some tranny walls downtown,and a pool at a mason lodge. Ari-fucking-zona was next on the list and for good reason, New Mexico was the only place thus far that we actually paid to stay in a hotel due to the heat and meth heads wandering around like zombies from some D- Zombie flick from the fifties. Local Shredder had an uncle out in the Phoniex area so we hit that up and did some tourist shit,like rafting on the salt river,and looking for a fullpipe we over heard someone talking about but we didn't want to risk it after the sun went down.Tons of parks out there,none let bikes in really so it was hit and run until we went to the WEDGE.No Ratboy sighting. Onto some more pools in Tucson,and other amazing street and a rad indoor park next to a pool that let us ride for free. The bums at the pool just wanted a Mountain Dew,then he showed us his gun and I gave him a poptart,he kept an eye out for the police and got a snack out of it.We stopped at this small bowl outside of the California border and was shocked by the bad vibrations I was getting from a group watching the fourth of July fireworks and me sliding out on a hip and once again ruining my hand. We drove past the desert from Return of The Jedi which was rad,and I pissed on Mexico. There were fireworks in the distance,it was a silent ride as we pulled into the rest area and caught up on some sleep. San Diego was where stuff started to go a bit south,after not finding much besides the usual spots from the old Eddie Roman flicks was great,Home Ave ditch was unreal the nuddie booth was a different story...Onto LA to meet up with Navaz who doesn't answer his phone. I spend the night on a Dairy Queen bench in Hunington Beach after taking a walk around looking for ladies and realizing that holy fuck,thats the Pacific Ocean and I start my senior year of high school in three weeks. Pretty surreal,kids now days travel the world at such a young age I don't think that they learn to appriciate the road as much as they probably should because they are so damn used to not being home. I missed my family but knew that we would be riding Mt.Baldy,downtown LA,and the Santa Anna Civic Center in the morning. Baldy was everything i could have hoped for,fast walls,unreal sounds made only by bmx tires carving up towards 10:30 in the pipe,hitting the flat walls hoping to whatever god there is not to fall into the Jim C. Death Roll in from RF 9. Just an amazing hike,and experience,some U.S Government Property signs were ripped off the fence and we rolled up to the school from Nowhere Fast with the flat ledges where we realized how wild some of BC'S moves in his section really were,like the one high speed Ice he does on the down ledge.Wow.The problem was the skateboarders,we were told not to grind the ledges with our pegs,there was about 14 skaters and three of us so we just did manuals until we got the boot,and made some baked beans on the cars engine.Finally Navaz calls us and hes shacked up in this dialed ass comfort inn extended stay place,we sneak in,shower it up,and pass out with hopes of hitting up some public parks,and the Fresno Vagabond Pool.Mission Accomplished. California has some unreal parks even if the rules can be jerky theres always a way to talk your way out of a fist fight,or a ticket for riding your bike.

Northbound to Glory was our next mission,with a stop over in San Fran. to ride some street and bomb some hills.Rode the China banks,alot of fun,looked at the Chad Kagy ledge,and the drop that Mike fell off of in that one Props issue. That night I bought a shitty waterproof throw away camera,and we did some tourist shit. Drove to the Dam where the pipe is located and slept under a tree. As the sun was rising we began the hike to the pipe. The Glory Hole is a 32 foot monster of a fullpipe resting under a huge dam.Its morning glory spillway was just a dicktease on what we knew laid underground. After the two mile hike with bags of kitty litter,brooms,spraypaint,and two rafts we had arrived unseen. We blew up the ramps and began to paddle over to the pipe and instantly began to clean the tiny stream of water up making the pipe super fast and not so dangerous.Good times were had,Tom jumped off a cliff into a pile of mosquito eggs and I almost stepped on a Rattlesnake on the way back to the car.Onto Route 80.This is where shit is a blur,so many spots,so many pools,unreal concrete parks,empty space,the great salt lake,backyard ramps,Kevin Porter taking us for pizza,and riding Oliver's backyard was also pretty amazing.I wonder what happened to that dude? We ended our trip up in the Detroit area with the Van Normans which was unreal having once again a roof over our heads,seeing Elliot's new project,and watching the Van Normans ride their own yard was pretty eye opening,Ted still does some of the best tables in BMX. We hit up Detroit street which was more terrifying than good,but the town the Van Normans lived in was super tight and fun.We said our goodbyes,made it home in 16 hours,and I spent a night in the hospital for exhaustion. All in all some of the best times of my life,I wish I could remember it all,Your probably bored so I'll shut up. If this makes one kid spend his Woodward money to experience life outside the foam pit I say go for it,woodward will always be there,pools come and go,as does life...and life believe it or not isn't about doing flairs to footjams. Sometimes the best part about BMX is its simplicity.

i remember being a little kid and hanging out at my freinds sean and keith ennis' house,we used to hang in the basement where that had a super nintendo with a super gameboy. i didnt have a super gameboy nor did i want one,i was a sega gamegear guy and i had all the color i wanted.fuck black and red,it strains the eyes.but anyway they also had a computer with online capibilities.remember this is the early 90's so this was like unheard of in my brain,all i know about online was chat rooms,video game websites,and sex.it seemed to be a dangerous toy,so much so that sean and keith's parents didnt give them a password or user name,it was all set up for their older brother eddie.his password was guessed one day and we were in.
this session lasted a total of 25 seconds before we got scared and shut it down.
its odd that i remember this.hell his user name was Yoda1990 or something i forget at the moment.but i remember that day and being introduced to the internet.fuck man if i would've known how much trouble this shit would become on that day i would've steared clear of computers and being "online" forever.but as it would be in 10th grade i had to give in and put the trusty type writter to rest.and there i was with a comcast modem and a aim screename,napster was at my finger tips and i downloaded a bunch of sheer terror and cannibal corpse albums that evening.
napster went away and then came kazzaa.how many hours i wasted online is stupid.all the drama,and bullshit over the years,and hell all of the goodtimes that it caused.a mouse and a keyboard with a glowing screen can be a weird thing,it sure changed alot of people into being dependent on this machine,something along the lines of a bad habit.simplicity has ruled our lives,as i type this i hear my sister in the other room trying to connect using dial up,its sad.she doesnt know what a catagory 5 cable is so she will never tap into my precious internet connection.
godforbid she slow down my downloads.but no its not because of that im just a jerk.typing this monstrocity of words just makes me think,and thinking is still good isn't it?

it all takes me back,everytime i sit down on a cold monday night with not a care in the world besides waking up for work at 11am tomorrow morning.i was in the bath last night and i was thinking about my first "real"bmx bike.i bought it at the now defunct performance bike shop in springfield after watching a sprocket jockey's freestyle show in the parking lot.there i sat on my mongoose villian just wanting what those dudes had,nice bikes and skills.not knowing how far along that $500 Hoffman Taj would take me,i just knew i wanted to ride bikes.beyond the point of going around the block and getting 6 inches of air off my broken picnic table in my front yard.fuck that was 11 years ago,and here iam.i got my $500 dollars worth.
that little 20 inch machine has gotten me around this country,has gotten me arrested,and most importantly showed me the true meaning of freindship.for the most part freinds come and go in the local bmx scene but a few of us who have been doing this for half of our lives are still going at it.most importantly tom white,who went from being the sketchiest dude ever on a bicycle to being one of the most well respected professional street riders in bmx today,watch his section in the new animal video for proof,its awesome to say congrats to someone who actually deserves what they get in life give the kid a "HB"if you see him.
i dont mean to go on and on,i just wanted to talk a little.

i bought the every where i roam single from the wall along with "Symphony of destruction by megadeth cassette single.that was in 1992 i think,and here iam still listening to thrash metal.and being in a death metal band.(skeleton proof tanks)
in 9th grade i went to my first show at the trocadero theatre,it was Greyarea,H20,Saves the Day,and i think Ensign,now in 3 weeks my band will be on that same stage with legends of death metal Vital Remains.
its just weird to me,how life works.wanting something so badly and then after working so hard getting it.
if you were to tell me when i was a freshman in high school that i would be in a band playing the mainstage of the trocadero in 2006 id probably balltap you.i dunno i see these kids who i graduated with going to college,getting drunk and gaining 23 pounds,and i just dont want any part of it.im happy with the life i chose to live,sorry i dont like cocaine and doing beer bongs,sorry i dont like frat parties and lacrosse games.this town disgusts me and how much the people in this area take fitting in with soiciety.you know the future is in our hands,and i hate to say it if we even make it that far along,what do we have to show for our selves?besides memories.maybe a scar of how bad your life turned out from what your fucking guidence teacher told you back in 12th grade,"your gonna be somebody"...whatever that means.

now heres my story.
ohio = hell or...my weekend trip.
a long story...
friday morning i was going to the Last Call Contest at Chenga world skatepark in North Ridgeville Ohio,with Local Shredder,Tom White,Paul Horan,Alfrado,George K, Cesar Monzon,Evan Ayalla,and myself to film the contest for the upcoming Standpoint Issue 6.first off The Van only fits Seven People and there was obviously eight of us,that ment someone had to sit on the floor.shitty.the plus was everyone in the back could watch videos or movies on the tv/dvd player.
so all is well,we arrive into Ohio making pretty good time. then right outside of Youngstown the trouble begins.
the back right wheel on the van Blows off into traffic leaving us scared and almost killing us.Shredder steers the car to a grinding stop. me and Tom jump out of the car and get the tire which is resting on the median.we are fucked.stranded in the middle of the highway.it is getting dark and cold.we are about sixty miles from the skatepark.things are looking grim when the tow truck guy tells us he cant take all of us in the van,we talk him into it but he can't drive all of us the sixty miles to a station in North Ridgeville.he takes us to a shop in youngstown to get the van fixed.this is already looking expensive i only brought $50.00 with me so when i hear the guy say hes dropping us off at the motel 6 an exit up on the highway i get pretty bummed.no Chenga world tonight.
worst town ever,food cost extra if you eat it inside.everyone else gets stoned and drunk and go to this greasy ass stripjoint called club 76.grimey.paul comes back in trashed and loud and wakes us all up talking about boobs.fuck.
in the morning we decide to go to Perkins Resturant.(WORST DECISION) i dont buy anything but end up getting a full meal off of everyones left overs.we all leave the money for the food and the tip on the table and leave.we call the shop and the van is fixed so the guy who fixed it meets us at the Travel Center by Perkins.
heres where things just get FUCKED.we are putting the bikes on when we are surrounded by police.they come to the car and ask why we skipped out on the bill at Perkins.WHAT THE FUCK!the cop asks which one of yous didnt buy food? i raised my hand and he says good your the only one not going to JAIL.this is getting serious and the waitress comes out of the cop car accusing us of leaving without paying that fucking grimey savage probably pocketed it,and does this shit to everyone out of town.so the cops say we can either pay the bill again PLUS TIP,or go to jail.no one wanted to hear our side of the story.we payed the bill again and we were finally on our way to the contest which by the way was already in progress.everyone at this point is beyond salty and just wants to get to the skatepark.finally we arrive and me and Shredder set up the standpoint merch table and shit.turns out im not filming the contest,Shredder is going to film with my camera and i have to work the merch table.so i bring my bike in and put it next to the table so i could ride.i make Evan watch the merch while i rode for five minutes.i didnt see any of the comp so i have no idea what went down,what i did see was Chase Hawk in practice kill the box jumps.i only sold $70 in merch so that sucked,what sucks even more is that they shut down the park after the comp so we couldnt ride.Vinnie Sammon,Tyrone,and Edwin join us and we go to Dennys and eat ,then get a room at the Econo Lodge across the street.we get two rooms and spend more money,now iam broke $0 in my wallet.we make some calls and we go to this party Jake Finnley set up at his freinds place called "The Spot".it was a pretty sweet place.shit got wild Lou Bickle showed up and was getting Loose with Catfish on the Microphone doing freestyle rap.i didnt drink. i just wanted to go to bed.so we left.i got no sleep and we rushed out of the hotel in the morning and i forgot my pillow.not sweet.George K. left the night before so Edwin got a ride home with us.ate again at Dennys,Tom payed for my breakfast. then we went to Chenga world and rode for an hour.that place is super fun and make all of the shit we had to go through worth it.on the way out of the skatepark shredder realizes that his jacket was stolen at the party that had the $70 from the standpoint merch in it.fucking hosed.so we drove home with a broken tv by the way.it took like an hour longer than it should've and i got no sleep.

How did you find BMX?

I lived in New Jersey for several years, my grandfather would go to flea markets and buy scrap bikes then fix them up and give them to kids in the neighborhood that didn't have bikes, so he taught me how to build and repair bikes as well as buy me my first BMX bike.

My first real experience with BMX was through a friend Chris Eckerd, Chris lived with one of my friends and happened to ride trails and street, it took seeing Chris do one flat ground 360 and I was hooked, the next day I went out and bought a BMX bike and Chris showed me the ropes. RIP.

Why Long Lane?

I'm kinda glad you asked cause this is something I always wanted to clear up...

When I first became interested in starting a local BMX website Darrell Bokano and myself spent a few days trying to come up with a name before we settled on Long Lane Productions.

We wanted to stay away from calling ourselves a clothing company or even a BMX company because we didn't want to set any limitations to what we could do. We also didn't want a set team of riders, sort of an open to the public type company.

The name represents where we are from and is a well-known spot in the Delco. and Philadelphia area. Most the guys who ride exclusively for Long Lane Productions have lived, or still live on Long Lane.

I love anything vintage but the Web has made BMX capable of reaching more people faster than shipping ever could and very convenient as well, still I'd rather pop in a classic and sit on the couch with some guys and drink a beer.

Is there a street riding overkill in BMX at the moment?

There is alot of street overkill right now but it's just whats popular in BMX now, I've always preferred street riding but I do enjoy watching and riding parks from time to time, Dirt bores me to watch unless I'm actually at the trails snapping photos or something.

Rails, I'd rather watch someone run game on a rail anyday, just seems more tech & creative, dirt is too g'nar.

Heard you were helping out with Status Quo 2,hows that looking?

I was talking with Slow Joe sometime ago about helping put out some Status Quo shirts and would still like to get it done.

Minkas was suppose to have a mixtape going in with Status Quo 2 that we were going to have a section in but it seems like the project as a whole is falling through, I don't want to speak ill of anyone or pass judgment, especially on someone I hardly know like Joe but it just seems the main focus is no longer on BMX.

Any DVD plans for yourself outside of Long Lane?

At the moment we are filming two split parts for the Takeover BMX video "First Time Around" which should be done hopefully by the end of summer. Nick Monte and myself will be splitting a part and Tony "Boots" and Joe Concordia will also be splitting a part.

I've also been helping Dave Krone film clips for Bone Deth which I'm excited about.

Once Innovation starts filming for their next full-length I'm sure myself and the guys will get clips for their friends section since we tend to help each other out. Shout-out to Dan Conway, Eric Capone, and Steve Marini.

We are having another jam next weekend for our fallen friend Darrell Bokano and will be filming the entire event and throwing it into a web-edit so hopefully that will hit up online within the next month as well.

Hometown: Gloucester City, NJ a small suburb of Camden. I grew up riding mostly Clover Hills (R.I.P.), street in Philly and A.S.S. in Tom’s River (R.I.P.)

Why Bmx?: It has almost always kept me out of major trouble. For a while I stopped riding and started down the “wrong road” in life. BMX helped pull me out of a rut I happened to get myself in. Besides, I’ve met some of my closest and longest friends through BMX. It’s the common denominator and it’s our way of life.

Why Synergy?: I was asked to come on board at Synergy on day 1. Originally we were just a silk screen joint and they needed a designer. So I suppose the owner (Jesse) picked me because he liked my artwork and style from the other place we used to work at together. Then I put a skateboard in the window display to “attract a younger crowd.” Apparently, the kids that came in thought we sold skateboards. That got us talking and we started selling decks. Then I was like “Shit, we should sell bikes while were at it!” so we started selling bikes. So now I take care of day to day operations in the store as well as create the more detailed artwork that goes on the t-shirts we print for contract customers like: Levi’s, Verde, Duo, Orchid, 2x4 and over see the art department and quality management for every shirt that leave the building.

Style or Tricks? Style .. without style tricks looks sketchy as hell.

Hows having a bike shop effecting the riding scene? Jesus, it seriously is insane around here now. Everywhere you turn there are kids riding bikes. I honestly think there are both good and bad sides to it. Some of the bads are that spots are becoming busts and more kids bikes are getting stolen. Some of the goods are that there is always someone different to ride with and the scene around Delco is blowing up. There are a few kids that will be killing it on the pro scene, in a couple of years, if they keep it up.

You always seem to have up to date knowledge of new products,that shit ever a pain in the ass? Yo for real.. my brain hurts from all the dumb bike knowledge thats in it. I need to stay up to date with the market so its like, a must. But seriously, sometimes I wish people would just go out and find out on their own if they like a product or not or what the damn geometry on the newest frame is. Thats what we had to do when we were growing up.

Who Is L.J? LJ is my right hand man in the art department, when I’m stuck up front working on bikes or checking in inventory or whatever it is. He’s the one in the trenches handling the day to day when I can’t be in two places at once

How do you not have grey hair from those kids by now? I do, on my sides and my nads, besides the woman likes it.

Any video premiers,or maybe a store video in the works? We have been talking to a few people about doing premiers here, Infamy and Innovation mainly. We do have plans on a Synergy vid in the future. We are still nailing down the team. Then the next step will be to get started on the vid. I’m going to let the cat out of the bag on this one. Currently we have Otto Ayala (Infamy BMX), Dan Conway (Innovation BMX Clothing) and myself on the BMX team.

Have any plans for any more jams/events?
Of coarse we are gonna do the annual “DESTROY PHILLY black friday street jam” again this year. Plus we are talking to Derek over at Orchid about some and maybe having his team come on through. It’s really hard to have a demo, since we really don’t have the space for it. But we are possibly going to talk to the city in a few weeks about doing a “block party.” If that goes down successfully, I think that could wind up being a yearly thing.
